In a new video shared to hisInstagram page, the embattled actor — whose career evaporated following allegations of abuse, as well as cannibalism — said he was unloading his 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Pickup and opting for a hybrid to save on fuel costs.

“So, I’ve been back in L.A. for a couple of weeks now, this is my truck,” he began in his self-shot video. “I bought this for myself in 2017 as a Christmas gift for myself,” the Golden Globe-nominated star said of his vehicle. “I have loved this truck intensely and taken it camping and across the country multiple times and on long road trips, and I took it for one last road trip to CarMax.”

Insisting that he wasn’t making an ad for CarMax, which is a used car retailer, Hammer, 38, told his followers that since moving back to Los Angeles he has put “about 4 or 500 dollars worth of gas in it.”

The Call Me By Your Name actor went on to speak about the memories he’s had in the truck, including bringing his “kids home from the hospital” and taking “camping trips and road trips.”

“But you know what? That’s okay. I got a new car. It’s tiny. It’s a hybrid. I’m probably gonna put about 10 bucks of gas in it a month, and this is it,” he continued, adding, “Here’s to new beginnings.”

The father of two shot the video the day before his birthday and used the pending sale as an opportunity to turn the page and write a new story for himself.

“On August 28, I will starting my birthday in a new car, in a new apartment, in a new life in Los Angeles,” he said, before becoming emotional as he thanked his car for getting him “a long way.”

“I appreciate it all. I hope you take as good of care of the next person,” he said tapping the wheel.

On his Instagram page, Hammer’s fans were largely supportive in the comments of his video, which has garnered close to one million views. After not having appeared in a new film since 2022’s Death on the Nile, many voiced hopes that he’ll find his way back to the big screen.

“I believed a lot of the lies about this guy. After watching a few interviews, I realized how wrong I was,” one person shared. “Hope you have a major comeback, Armie, you deserve it.”

Last month, Hammer spoke about the 2021 cannibalism and sexual abuse allegations that derailed his acting career, telling Piers Morgan, “You know what you have to do to be a cannibal? You have to have actually eaten someone.”

When the British journalist asked Hammer about the accusations that he was into cannibalism, he further replied: “This was a very intense affair — very sexually charged — between two people with very similar proclivities and kinks,” he said of the charges made by Efrosina “Effie” Angelova.

But Hammer acknowledged that“conversations that (he and Angelova) had inside of that relationship, when you take them outside of that context and put them into broad daylight, it doesn’t look so good.”

He also admitted to branding another partner, Paige Lorenze, but insisted it “was a scenario that we talked about beforehand.”

In January 2021, Lorenze spoke to Page Six about her allegedlyabusive romance with Hammer, including an instance when he carved his initial onto her skin.

“To some, it probably sounds really strange. To some, it probably sounds like a very romantic gesture,” Hammer said, adding that “different people have different sexual fantasies.”

Hammer said the talk of cannibalism was an element of role-play that was “born out of a desire to, sort of like, ‘I want you so completely,’ and, ‘I want you so totally,’ that it’s almost like, ‘I want to eat you.’”

He also conceded to having “a very intense affair” that led to his divorce from his ex-wife, Elizabeth Chambers, in 2023.

Lorenze also spoke out about their relationship in another interview, telling Vanity Fair that she felt “unsafe” during her short-lived romance with Hammer.

“He started making rules for me of things I could and couldn’t do, who I could have over, who I couldn’t. He told me that I couldn’t have anyone else in my bed.”

But in June, after some time living in the Cayman Islands, sources told PEOPLEthat Hammer is working to regain his career in Hollywood.

“He wants to prove himself and win back credibility by clawing his way back into Hollywood,” one insider said. “He doesn’t want to be seen as taking favours.”

During an appearance on his pal Tyler Ramsey’sPainful Lessons podcast earlier this summer, Hammer reflected on how the scandal affected his career, which saw him lose roles in Jennifer Lopez’s Shotgun WeddingandThe Offer, a series about the making ofThe Godfather.

“Everything in my life falls apart. I lose all my representation. I lose all of my work. I lose everything (and) think this is the worst thing that’s ever happened to me …Whatever it was that people said, whatever it was that happened, I’m now at a place in my life where I’m grateful for every single bit of it,” Hammer said.
